Amin Maktab

Amin Maktab was established fifty years ago in October, 1961 as a special education school for intellectually impaired children in a small rented building with only ten students and two teachers and was the first such institution in northern Pakistan .Now; it is looking after 904 children with a staff of 63. Amin Maktab is an island of hope for thousand of special children and their family members, helping relieve and share the burdens generated by the medical adversity.
It has been a long and rewarding journey. Today, it is a Pakistan biggest NGO. In its field, its pioneering home based outreach and inclusive education services have, helped uplift the lives of thousands of our less fortunate.

Amin Maktab School:
We started with two rooms, ten children and two staff member now we have well equipped institution, presently has on its roll 98 special children in 9 class group. The class group is arranged keeping in view the mental chronological age of the children and their personal abilities. Assessment and re-Assessment of special children of Amin Maktab were being done. Parents teacher meeting are regularly arranged. Counseling sessions of parents and children are also arranged.

Referral Services:
Speech and Communication unit, Physiotherapy units, Sport unit, Art and Craft unit , Autism unit, Vocational Training unit, Computer unit, Psychiatric Consultation, Medical services.
Inclusive Education:
Inclusive education is a new concept in Pakistan. The objectives are to provide inclusive Education, and rehabilitation services in normal street schools near the home of special children, to develop the awareness in the community.
